A Visit to Amathunzi

Renee and I spent last night at the Amathunzi Private Reserve outside Robertson.  The farm is situated in pristine Karoo type environment with wonderful mountain vistas and no signs of cilvilization.  A perfect getaway!  We had the sole use of the Lodge which accommodates 10 people in comfort in five chalets with a main building housing communal facilities such as lounge, dining room, kitchen, boma and pool.

The reason for our trip was to further my Berg-to-Breede bird list, but, regrettably, I failed to add a single bird, despite around four hours of walking and endless searching.  We did, however, manage to identify 50 species on the property in the very short time we were there.  We can recommend this as a good destination with very hospitable staff and good Karoo birding.
