Vredehoek Farm Walk

Twelve Hermanus walkers set out for Keith and Debby’s farm, Vredehoek, this morning in overcast and threatening weather.  They were there to meet us and lead us on a wonderful hike across the farm.  Fortunately the rain held off and we were able to cover 12 kilometres in excellent walking weather and through abundant fynbos with really excellent flowers of every description.  We were also treated to fields of cultivated Proteaceae and saw the flower pickers at work, harvesting blooms for the export market.

When the hard part was over (we had not remembered how hilly the terrain is) and we returned to their cottage, Debby provided an excellent lunch for all, thereby once more raising the bar for outings of this kind.  Well done, and thanks for the super day and to Guy for the lovely bunches of flowers which were on hand for us when we left.  We will certainly return should the opportunity arise!

Here are some of the flowers that we saw.
